Fixed Rate
A fixed rate is an interest rate that stays the same for the entire term of a loan or deposit. Your payment never changes, which makes budgeting predictable and protects you if market rates rise. The trade-off is that fixed rates usually start slightly higher than variable rates.
Example
A 30-year fixed mortgage at 6% keeps the same $1,799 monthly payment on $300,000 for all 360 payments.
